When nature calls , who are you going to call?
A company based out of Charlottesville, Virginia is doing everyone’s dirty work. “Doody Calls,” has created a business service that cleans up dog poop from yards across the region.
Business owners Jacob and Susan D’Aniello started the company back in 2000 when they were each facing hefty student loan bills, according to their website. Jacob thought starting a small side business would help pay off their debt. After finding that people were willing to pay them to pick up their dog’s poop, the couple set aside their Saturdays to scoop up doggy doody to make a few extra bucks.
The couple’s first client wanted to sign on for a six month period. She had just bought a new home and found her dog was leaving too much behind on her lawn for her to keep up with. Jacob saw an opportunity and knew his business could grow further. In 2004, the couple established “Doo’Ville,” the company’s national headquarters in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The business offers weekly, bi-weekly, once a month and one time cleanings – whichever suits your needs. Their tools are disinfected and Doody Calls stands behind their 100% satisfaction guarantee. “We love the work you “do” for us,” client Margaret D. says on the company’s website.
Now ten years later, the business is considered the number one pet waste removal franchise in the United States and jumped up 100 spots on the country’s top 500 franchises, according to Entrepreneur.com. Doody Calls has grown to include 37 franchises country-wide and in 2009 the company brought in almost $900,000 in revenue.
To put it quite frankly, Doody Calls is cleaning up.
