Worth Waiting For…
We’ve all been there. A sudden important phone call has you stuck at the office and you’re running late for a meeting. You can call, email or text your client to say you’ll be late, but no matter what, they will be kept waiting. Although this happens to the best of us, it also leaves a lasting impression upon the people we’d like to impress the most.
The concept of ‘waiting’ is exactly what a Thailand company wants to tackle. “A Book”, a well known Thai publisher, recently released a series of ‘waiting’ solutions that offers Thais a chance to enjoy a quick read in some unexpected places.
The “Running Late SMS” is the perfect solution to an unexpected hold up at the office or traffic jam. Send the mobile numbers of those waiting for you to “4986” and A Book will send them an SMS short story to read while they wait for you to arrive. Instead of cursing your tardiness, your clients and friends will instead be distracted by a quick read. You’ll have just enough time to zip through traffic and break the ice with a smile upon your arrival.
“Queue Up Tickets” look much like a long recipe but offer a short book synopsis of new books to read. The dispenser resembles something you might find at your local DMV or doctor’s office. It attaches to the wall and dispenses information on the latest books.
A Book also offers three other waiting solutions, including a book shelf widget you can add to your website while the page is loading, “sticker lines” that are placed around waiting areas and placemats with an open book design that allow people to read while waiting for their food.
After the launch of the new lines A Book’s sales increased by 25 per cent in two months, and successfully included a new target group who had “never enjoyed reading before,” according to the website.
During a time when time management is essential and everyone is constantly go-go- go, A Book has offered a simple solution to a painful wait that may even boost your intellect.
